kindness

apparently a tiny act of kindness can go a long way. it's amazing to see that you're able to put a smile on someone's face just by being kind to them.

so today in school, during recess, my best friend, tracia, went to buy food. she ordered her usual dish which is minced lamb in a hot dog bun. since the school is too cheap to let us use plates, they serve our food in a piece of brown paper which we have to carry our steaming hot food in back to our table. now note that the workers at the cafeteria always prepare our food fresh from the grill so it's piping hot. tracia accidentally loosened her grip and dropped her food onto the ground before reaching the table because it was too hot and she got really upset about it.

seeing as she was incredibly upset that her food and the money that she spent on it had gone to waste, i did something that i knew would probably lift her spirits. i went over to the lunch lady and ordered the exact same dish that she dropped and paid for it then gave it to her. her happiness came to me as a shock because all i did was just a small act of kindness and she treated it as if it was such a big deal.

i always did this even back in elementary school. one time when my best friend back in year three dropped her bowl of noodles i went ahead and bought her another one. it was just something normal for me to do. but according to tracia no one had ever done that for her before and according to my other friend, joyce, it was the first time she saw someone do something like that.

so what i'm trying to say here is spread a little kindness as often as possible. even if it's just something small like complimenting someone or buying food for them after they've dropped theirs, the tiniest acts of kindness can make someone's day. even though it probably doesn't mean much to you, it'll probably mean the world to them. trust me. just try telling the next three people you see that they have a nice smile and marvel at their response.

wake up and smell the flowers. there's a whole life ahead of you.

it's a great thought knowing that some of the best days of our lives probably haven't even happened yet. think about it. imagine what's out there. the future i mean. a never-ending void of possibilities. there's still lots of good food to eat, great music to listen to while shaking your tush along to, great writers to discover and good books to read and get lost in over and over again. there are still beautiful places to travel to, breathtaking sights to see, lovely people to meet and wild adventures with friends to go on.

there are so many things that you haven't done yet. you haven't gone cafe hopping with your best friends, you've never been on a vacation trip to another country all on your own, you've never laid down in the middle of a big empty field at night and just watched a sky full of stars with someone that means a lot to you, you've never been to that dream destination that you've always wanted to visit, you've never visited a forest on your own, etc.

i don't really know why i just decided to write a blog post about something so deep. maybe it was because of this question on ask fm asking me whether or not i worry about the future. it made me sit down and think for a while on how to answer it. i knew that of course, just like everyone else, that the idea of the future is something terrifying. but i don't worry about the future that much. (well not as much as i used to that is)

back then in my earlier days though i wouldn't say very far back (the time between the age of 15 to 16), i used to worry a lot about my future but i wasn't worried about things that everyone else was worrying about like whether or not i would get into uni or get a good job with a good salary after i graduate. i was worried about different things like whether or not my life is going to be outstanding and not average just like everybody else's or whether or not i was going to be special when i entered the real world. i want to have a dream job that i enjoy, not some boring average job like being a clerk or a secretary and i was afraid that my dream would backfire in the future. i'm afraid of mediocrity and that i'll just be another brick in the wall.

but anyway, that was before. things are different now. i don't worry about the future anymore. of course it still keeps me pondering on what's going to happen to me next but that's something inevitable. as i mentioned before, the future is undefined and it's a never-ending void of possibilities. i like to think of it as a train track. you don't know where a train track ends unless you follow it for yourself.

so here's the thing. stop worrying about the future and focus more importantly on the now. learn to live in the moment and create wonderful memories with the amazing people that you have around you. take time to smell the flowers and tell the people that mean a lot to you that you love them and that you mean it. go on road trips with friends. stay in cheap motels overnight with them and make the best of it. visit somewhere thats first language isn't english and learn to communicate with the locals there. live. as long as you're on the right path in your life, everything will be alright and the future begins to write itself. every footstep that you take today brings you to where you'll be tomorrow.

To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palms of your hand and eternity in an hour. — William Blake

fashion with a passion

guess what. i was too lazy to go to school today so i skipped and now i'm officially on a three week holiday. yay! the holidays actually officially start on wednesday but i was too lazy to attend school today and tuesday (which is tomorrow) is my school's sports day celebration which i sure as hell am not going to attend either so that means my holidays have started early and i'm only returning back to school two weeks after june. oh what a life!

usually on long holidays like this, my family chooses to go travelling but it looks highly unlikely this time since my mum just bought a new car and i have an open day to attend at a school this coming saturday. plus, i have a lot of events i'm attending like my own school's international understanding day and a leo dinner held by my school that are both being held on the last week of the holidays. so technically that means i'm only fully available on the first week of june but both my parents might be busy with work. we were planning to travel to hong kong or shen zhen because i want to go on a wicked shopping spree because i'm in desperate need for new clothes and my mum wants to buy more tailor made cheong sams. (typical asian... i know) my dad just wants to go for the food because these places have the most amazing dim sum ever.

so in the meantime i will list down things that are currently on my shopping wish list:

1. parental advisory mesh top

this is super cool and edgy. i've had my eye on these babies for a long time now and i think that they would look fantastic in a pair of boyfriend jeans. i almost bought them a week ago online but then i found out that the website was a total rip off because they offered a 50% discount on any item but then increased the prices by double so even if you do use the discount you're still paying for the original price which was totally unfair. i emailed them my complaint and didn't get the tops but hey, at least they gave me a 30% off on my next purchase ☺

2. kenzo eye patterned dress and white blouse

i saw both of these on my tumblr dashboard and i instantly knew that i got to have them. the dress is so totally adorable and the white blouse with the white skirt (or shorts) looks clean cut and edgy. both these looks would go perfect with a pair of stylish black boots or sandals from windsor smith. top it off with a gorgeous faux fur coat and you'll look ready for the runway.

p.s.    you get bonus points if your hair is long and you style it into two little buns at the top of your head. it's totally cute and it earns you extra points for being daring and different in my books.

3. windsor smith shoes

do not even get me started on windsor smith shoes because i swear that i can go on forever and ever. first of all, lets just be clear that there is literally nothing that i do not want from the windsor smith shoe selection because lets be honest everything there is perfect. i would kill for their hologram platform sandals as well as their chunky white sandals. i would sell my soul for their boots and sacrifice my first born for the rest. go check out their shoes for yourself. i'll even be ever so kind to drop you the link here .

4. mary jane doc martens

i think that everyone that really know me is aware of my love for this wonderful thing called doc martens. i only have one pair which is the classic black one and i love it so much. one of my favourites shoes because it's so rugged and trendy that it matches many different styles that i have. i really want to get the mary jane docs because they're super duper cute. the mary jane docs would go absolutely prefect with a cute little ensemble with a striped shirt and overalls.

5. hello parry lilac coloured basic coat

so last year i found this australian fashion website called hello parry on instagram and i instantly fell in love. their clothes like the zara inspired skort and leather bralette are magnificent and so is this coat. the colour is perfect and so is the design. coats make you feel like a boss ass bitch and they're cool. i've been eyeing on a good old coat for ages and this is the one that i want.

p.s.    you should really check out their website here. they have really great stuff.

so i guess that's all for now..... i'll be updating with a new post pretty soon since it's the holidays so stay tuned for more. xx

where's the maple syrup and pancakes?

O' CANADA!

the land of pancakes and maple syrup with the most polite people that you can find.

so yesterday, i attended sunway international school's first ever "international understanding day" (aka IU day) held by their interact club. this is the second IU day that i've attended. the first one was an IU day celebration by my own school last year with the theme life in technicolor. it was pretty enjoyable for a first time but it wasn't as good as sunway's IU day celebration.

so being a school that follows the canadian education system, their IU day theme was o' canada. i was excited to go because i've heard that the people there are very fun and one of my friends, amanda — whom i met via the wonderful and glorious internet — has been sharing information about the event and it looked very exciting. another reason why i wanted to attend was because i wanted to meet amanda for the first time in person. and let me just say that the girl's hair (which is bright purple and pink) is brighter than my future.

i didn't attend the celebration alone. in fact I went with two of my friends that live in the same neighborhood as me. wei lyn and shyne-ni (pronounced as sheh ni) it was their first ever IU day attended and it seems that they had quite a fun time as much as i did.

the performances were great and the mc's were hilarious especially one of them named denzel who was as wild and loud as his long afro tied into a ponytail. him and the other mc (rahul) started of the celebration with the both of them entering the stage while singing a high school musical song. the performances were pretty unexpected too. most of them were singing performances but there were also cheerleading and poetry reading which was different from your usual stage acts. there was even a flash mob that occurred which completely took all of us by surprise. random people started standing on their chairs when the music went off and ran onto the stage and started dancing.

the majority of the students there were korean. even the group of girls sitting in front of us were koreans. there were so many koreans there that i thought to myself "damn am i in sunway or am i in korea?"

other than the performances, the food they provided there was incredible too. did you know that the hawaiian pizza despite its name was originally created in canada? well now you do. and did you know that poutine is a french canadian dish that is  made of french fries with gravy and cheese and it is also heavenly delicious. it was the first time eating poutine and now i absolutely love it ♡ it's a definite must try for all you who don't know it's delicious cheesy and gravy coated goodness.

sadly i didn't get to have any pancakes with maple syrup because they ran out but i did get loads of poutine and pizza which made up for it ☻ overall a great event and i will definitely come back again for any of their future events. i'll end this blog post here with some other pictures we took at the event. till then, au revoir! xx

♡ pastel eggs and marshmallow peeps ♡

someone leave me a basket of easter eggs and marshmallow peeps at my doorstep please and thanks.

i am currently live blogging while watching sherlock. it's my new favorite show and it's bloody brilliant.

so this weekend, my parents were away to attend some party out station and i obviously didn't want to follow them so I stayed home. i mean what's better than staying at home alone pigging out watching tv shows, reading fan fiction and listening to music as loud as i want until inhuman hours of the morning? sure beats attending some party where i can't even drink because my parents are there and not to mention that i don't even know anyone there since they're all around my parents's age. but yeah, they're back now which is highly disappointing. i had a wonderful time while they were away.

anyway, i took the opportunity of their absence to watch some shows that have been on my list for a long time. i finally watched sherlock and even had a marathon. this show has so many plot twists to a point where it's insane. there aren't many seasons and each season only has three episodes so i'm sure that i'll be very disappointed once i finish all the episodes but at the moment i'm just watching this while i wait for the new series of doctor who. i just can't wait for the new series.

also, i've even been reading divergent fan fiction about tris and four (aka fourtris) because i can't get over how sweet they are. they're so cute that they make me squeal at how adorable they are. it's a good thing that my parents were away otherwise they would have heard the screams of delight coming from my room at three in the morning. so far fourtris ranks at number two on my top three ships after smillan (matt smith and karen gillan) and before johnlock (john and sherlock). sherlock is my only gay ship.

i feel a little bit guilty about how i'm being so carefree and living my life so easily by watching sherlock while sipping on arizona tea instead of doing revision for my midterms which are only two days away. whatever, it's just an easy paper anyway. i'll pull through (i hope). right now i just really want some easter eggs.

while most people are busy worrying about midterms, i'm just here obsessing over things like tv shows, celebrities, my ships, food and possibly crying over them. i'm a terrible person, i know. explains why i have more fingers than friends.

that's all for now. till my next post, here's a cadbury creme egg that i've been craving for but don't have. happy easter xx

i'm not dead yet

as you can tell from the title,

i'm not dead yet!

it's clearly been a while since i've blogged because i've been so busy these past few months. balancing off school and a social life is so hard i don't even know how some people do it like, jesus christ, do you practice black magic or something?

anyway back to things, i've been feeling a lot better than how i was feeling from my last post so, yeah. i guess that's good. i've been writing on my wattpad account but not very often because i barely have the time. in case you all didn't know, wattpad is a website for aspiring authors to share their work and read stories by other people too. i enjoy writing but i don't think i would choose to become a writer. i've always wanted to be a graphic designer since i was nine and my dream is to study graphic designing in new york city. i know that it won't be easy but i'm willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that dream. i might take writing as my second major but it's still too early to decide. i'll still keep that option open though ☺

if anyone is interested in checking out my wattpad, just click here. i'd really appreciate it if you could read my story "the writer" and tell me what you think.

other than wattpad, i've also been active on other social media sites like twitter and tumblr. i don't think i can live without both of them especially my tumblr. tumblr is my life, okay? if you wanna follow me on tumblr click here. i run a fashion//vogue tumblr blog ♡

i also make playlists on 8tracks. i even made a new one today called "get your skates and lets go". i made the cover myself. give it a listen and tell me what you think. i like making 8tracks mixes but the only problem is that they take too much time to make. my original plan was to make two today but my first one already took about two hours just to finish so i guess maybe next time instead.

in the non internet world,

i've been reading some new books lately instead of just rereading my old favourites. previously before school reopened, i finished reading the divergent trilogy and the last book, allegiant, killed me. and when i say kill, i mean that the book literally ripped my heart out and stabbed it 2000 times. but it was a really good book despite all the heartbreak that made me cry so hard until my mom had to come check on me in the middle of the night because she said that she heard animal noises. it was SO good that i had a book hangover for months just because of it and i couldn't really focus on reading any other book because my mind kept wandering back to allegiant. but i got over it now so yay!

i read quite a few books so far this year. two by haruki murakami that were definitely worth mentioning here.

my favourite is "kafka on the shore". it's honestly one of the best books that i've read in a long time. even better than "the perks of being a wallflower" although i wasn't fully comfortable reading it because of the smut (which there was a hell a lot of it). i've been wanting to read murakami's works for a long time because i've heard people complimenting him on his work and he didn't disappoint at all. the way he writes is incredible and his story lines aren't predictable at all and cliche which is just the type of things that i like in a story.

he uses a lot of metaphors with deep meaning that leave you mind blown. he writes with perfect description and when you read his writing, you can actually feel yourself transported into the story. it's perfect and i don't regret a thing. i rate it a 10/10 because perfection.

i'm currently reading "norwegian wood" at the moment. the writing is just as good but the story isn't really as unique as "kafka on the shore" but it's still good. there aren't many natural english writers that can even write as well as haruki murakami who writes in japanese and has his stories translated so i'm really impressed.

after i'm done with "norwegian wood", i'm planning on reading "blind woman, sleeping willow" next and maybe buy "the wind up bird chronicle" that is also by him. you can say that i'm clearly a huge fan of his work now.

other than reading, i've also been eating a lot but hey, what's new? hahaha. i love good food and i love to eat it. i've been mega obsessed with avocados lately because i swear they're so good. i've been bringing one to school everyday. people always look at me but whatever, i don't care. they're just jelly because i have a delicious avocado and they don't. and i've been bringing pastries from bakeries to school every day too. just the other day i had a wonderful cream puff from komugi bakery and i swear i saw the face of god when i took the first bite and when the cream came oozing out. it wasn't as good as the ones that i had when in japan but close enough.

and i can tell that i'm definitely going to look like a ball soon because of all this sweet food that i've been eating. just like how the other day i had spanish food for dinner at estilos with my family and then right after had dessert at salon du chocalat where we had a brownie crepe and molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream.

would you look at all the calories
it's okay though... i go jogging every saturday now so i guess it's okay to binge out just this once haha.

well i guess that's all for now so bye xx

PS.   listen to ellie goulding's cover of all i want by kodaline because it's fucking beautiful and if you haven't heard it yet then you're clearly missing out, child.

☼ shot reverse shot ☼

hey everyone! so it's been ages since my last blog post but yea now i'm back and will update more regularly (i hope).

so 2014 is pretty good for me so far. things have been going superb. i got to have fun and get closer with some really cool people and also discover and listen to some pretty good music like champagne supernova by oasis, heart to heart by james blunt, changing of the seasons by two door cinema club, and much much more. i even started owning a second instagram account called flowaah_ where i post  cool stuff from tumblr. i'm really happy with that because it got quite a lot of followers and i even managed to make some internet friends from it so go check it out maybe ☺ it's not as much as some of the other accounts but its a lot to me.

i even started to get more involved in clubs too so that's why i took part in my school's interact club and even joined the taekwondo club. joining back taekwondo after so long made me realise how much i actually missed it. it felt good letting out my anger through taekwondo passive aggressively.

well other than that i guess some other stuff came up too like how i kind of lost a friend because of some pretty personal yet stupid and ridiculous reasons but unlike her, i will not badmouth her like she did to me on the internet to the public because i'm much more mature than that and i'm not as childish as she is. lets just say that i don't care about her any more. i'm not going to give her any attention at all. not even negative attention because that's what she's looking for which is any form of attention no matter what. she is toxic waste and i don't need her in my life.

well i guess that's all for now. will update next time when something interesting in my life happens ✌

i'll leave you all with this really good song ♡♡♡
