ootn ☯ ☯ ☯

so last night i attended a dinner party to celebrate my dad's birthday with some of him and my mum's friends. now i've always had trouble with picking the perfect apparel for when it comes to events like an old people's party but i think that the one i chose for last night was pretty good.

dressing up for events like this has always been difficult for me because:
1. you have to dress sensibly which means nothing too raunchy otherwise other people would think that you have no class and you certainly wouldn't want any of your elders to think that.

2. since you're going to be the youngster in the group of older people, there is a 80% chance that you are going to be left out from most of the conversations. the only conversations that you are possibly going to be involved in are those in which you are the topic of discussion and when they ask you questions like "how old are you?" or "what are you studying at the moment?" other than those you'd probably be just sitting there awkwardly and scrolling through your phone. so you have to make sure that your ensemble is comfortable to sit in for hours. and....

3. sometimes you just have those really irritating elders that like to comment on how you look and how big you've grown even though you don't even remember seeing any of them at all as a child. for example, if you dress up really nicely they would say things like "wow, look how big you've grown! you even know how to dress up now!" unless you like the attention (unlike me) this wouldn't be an issue for you.

now the thing with me is that i actually want to look good even if it's just for something like this. i like to look good wherever i go and i make that a priority. so how do you manage to look good without drawing too much attention to yourself? here's the answer.

the tip is to wear something that has a plain or simple design yet somehow compliments your body and flatters your image. what i usually like to wear is my black body con dress because it fits me well in all the right places + every girl needs a little black dress. now i don't exactly have a skinny body so when i wear this dress i look a little bit more on the plump side and how i cover it up is by wearing a fitted denim jacket. a jacket, sweater or cardigan always helps with covering up. lastly i finished off my look with my black strapped platform sandals from vincci and a cute little owl pendant. the bag that i used is a transparent clutch with a gold chain that i had gotten from forever 21 when i was in london. what i like the most about this bag is that you can actually allow people to see what you are carrying inside and also i think that the design is very sleek and cool.

so that was my outfit of the night and i'll share some of my other outfits another time so stay tuned. ☺

winter slumber party ❆ ❄ ❅

hello friends, i have not blogged lately because (big shocker) i have been busy trying to participate. and by participate i mean trying to socialise and get a life. it's been pretty good so far...

so here i am. i am back and since i have just came back from a winter slumber party with two of my best friends (a.k.a. niggas 4 lyf) a few days ago, i am going to give you a rough guide on some fun things that you can do to have your own great winter slumber party

so here's "how to have a winter slumber party the mickums way" (note: i don't think that i have ever introduced myself before. my real name is miki actually and my nickname is mickums. the nickname has just kind of stuck and i've used it ever since.)

beautiful snowflake woooo.... ❆❄❅
just screw your diet for one night
and binge all the way

1. stock up on snacks
- a slumber party isn't a slumber party without all the junk food. so make sure that you have plenty of it. i recommend the best type of slumber party food like nachos and pizza because comfort food for the soul

2. slumber party movie marathon
- every slumber party needs its own little movie marathon. some movies that i recommend are disney movies because those never get old.
neither do i wendy *sigh*
3. accent challenges
- try speaking in different accents with each other. it's a super fun way to laugh yourselves senseless especially if you're speaking in a silly accent like scottish and sound like a barbarian.

4. don't sleep until 2a.m. earliest
- slumber parties are all about that night life and if you sleep before 2 it just means you're a wuss.

5. dye each other's hair
- you can use temporary hair dye and dye each other's hair in really cool and weird colours like blue or green and the best part is that the dye comes off once you was it with shampoo.

they look a little something like this but you can always
use hair chalk instead if you prefer.

6. become master chef
- cook or bake something. you could bake something like chocolate chip cookies or even just make a simple omelette. who knows? you could be the next master chef.

7. decorate a christmas tree
- nothing says winter slumber party more than a good old christmas tree. blast some christmas songs while you're at it. if you don't have a christmas tree, then why not invest in one? christmas trees never go out of style.
the actual tree that my friends and i decorated.
beautiful isn't it?

8. make hot chocolate
- and don't forget the whipped cream and extra chocolate sprinkles ☺☺☺
you can add marshmallows too if
you prefer. it's all up to you
9. paint each other's nails
paint your nails christmas themed
to get all of you in the christmas mood
- IT'S GIRLS BONDING TIME! paint your nails with your friends while having good old girl talk like talking about your exes and stuff hehehehehe.....

10. miniature concert time
- sing some songs together and pretend that you're at your own concert. it's even better if one of your friends plays an instrument (i.e. guitar/piano) as the rest of you sing.

so i guess that's all i have for you on how to have your own winter slumber party. you don't have to follow the list exactly. in fact, you can even add your own thing like go christmas shopping or paint one of those cheat painting stuff with the numbers. it's entirely up to you. the most important thing is to have fun and that's all that matters. hope you all manage to have your own great winter slumber party ❆ ❄ ❅

fiji water, pastel pennys and everything nice ♡

hey there, everyone so today i was just remembering how one time someone asked me on my ask.fm about the things on my bucketlist so i just thought why not i share the top 5 list with all of you since you're reading my blog and that most likely means that we are friend

i love dolphins.
they look so derpy

here is the latest version of my bucketlist:
1. swim with dolphins
- i once read that in the island of jamaica, there is a tourist attraction where you are allowed to swim with the dolphins in the sea. like how cool is that??
2. meet marina lambrini diamandis
- a.k.a. marina and the diamonds a.k.a. my idol like oh my goodness she is like the definition of perfection i absolutely adore her.

teen idle ♡♡♡

3. visit greece, hawaii and italy
- these are the places i want to visit before i die. paris and london used to be on the list but now i've visited them last summer so they're off the list now.
4. do the colour run
- in case you don't know what the colour run is, it's a marathon where contestants are splashed with coloured powder while they are running a distance of five kilometres. it sounds super fun and also you get to take great selfies for your instagram when you're finished running.

happiest 5k on the planet as they say
5. attend a doctor who exhibition or cosplay event
- i love doctor who. it's my favourite tv series of all time and i once stayed up until six in the morning just to watch the 50th anniversary episode of that show. what i really want to do is just attend comic con and dress as a t.a.r.d.i.s. or one of the characters from the show. i mean think about it... it's pretty freaking cool.

there's plenty more but those are my top 5 that i really want to achieve before i die.

“A lifetime isn't forever, so take the first chance, don't wait for the second one! Because sometimes, there aren't second chances! And if it turns out to be a mistake? So what! This is life! A whole bunch of mistakes! But if you never get a second chance at something you didn't take a first chance at? That's true failure.”
― C. JoyBell C.

also in other news today, i went skateboarding. here's a short video i filmed of myself skating.

i really want a penny board. a pastel one especially because those are just so pretty. the main problem for me right now is that they're too expensive so i'm probably just going to have to forget it. my current skateboard isn't as easy to ride as a penny board so that's why i want one now. lesson learnt: always check your options properly before buying.

aren't pastel pennys pretty?
anyway that's all for now. i'm going to skate again tomorrow but with some of my friends instead of just doing it on my own like today. hope you all had a great day as well

❁ ❁ ❁ 1/12/13 ootd + more ❁ ❁ ❁

hey there ☺ this is just a short post about my outfit of the day and what i did today.

so today is the 1st of december and you know what that means? 25 more days till christmas WOO HOO! i think what i love the most about christmas is the gift giving because i love giving hehe ☺

so anyway here's what i wore today:

pain white t-shirt: giordano
overalls: cotton on
transparent boots: f block
socks: korea
studded backpack: lyn

i really liked what i wore today because it looks really playful and cute  i love the colourful socks and i think that they go really well with the boots and add a special and playful touch.

i had a late but light lunch at this french bistro place called yeast which is currently my favourite restaurant at the moment. they bake the best bread and their eggs benedict with smoked salmon is to die for.

here's what i had today:

i know that it's too little but i didn't really feel like having a lot so it felt just nice. the almond croissant was delicious and i really liked my long black coffee.

after that i did some shopping and bought two new pairs of shoes from the padini concept store. they're both by vincci by the way.

i really liked this pair because it looked very
chanel ♡

a nice pair of heels for casual wear ✌
so anyways, that's pretty much how i spent my afternoon. i'm going for a family dinner pretty soon and i'm going to wear my new chanel look alike black heels yay

make a wish ✌

so lately i have been doing a lot of charity work this holiday. since i'm having a two month break i've decided to do some charity work so i can keep myself busy. my parents actually support this idea of mine because it keeps me busy and i won't have my face glued to my technology devices while having my soul sucked into tumblr and doctor who (a.k.a. just two of my biggest obsessions)

what i have done so far was donate my hair for wig companies to make special wigs for cancer patients that are kids and volunteer for this thing called the make a wish foundation.

in case you didn't know, the make a wish foundation is a big and well known non profit organisation in america but they also have one in almost every other country as well. their job is to grant wishes for unfortunate or ill kids below the age of seventeen. most of these kids are usually cancer patients who only have a few more months to live. they have kids' wishes to grant almost everyday.

so last friday was the first time i volunteered and my job was to buy snacks for the kid that we were going to visit on a $200 budget. the kid for that day's wish was to have a laptop and to also have a nice dinner with his family. he's a five year old malay boy who is having bone cancer and only has one leg. he walks using wooden crutches and he doesn't have any hair on him due to all the chemotherapy treatments he has been having. our plan for him was to let him and his family spend three days at the hilton hotel and treat them to a nice buffet dinner.

what we planned for him was to decorate another hotel room which is next to the one his family is staying in and decorate it with all his favourite things like sweet, board games, toys, etc. apparently my job was to buy the food for the room and guess what. i had a $200 shopping budget so you could say that i went a little mad with all the junk food after that i went to the hilton hotel and helped to decorate his room with a bunch of his favourite things. there was a mini ball pit, a toy car that you could actually drive, a race car track toy set, a bunch of board games, the laptop and all the food.

it actually has lights and an engine
that works.

and so after that all of the volunteers (including me) had dinner with them and it was great because the food was good + all you can eat buffet + free of charge. and now seriously, what is better than free unlimited amounts of good food? one thing that you should know about me is that i eat a lot and i love food so yeah no wonder i'm fat.

there even was a clown there and i didn't take any pictures of that clown because clowns are evil and i hate them. after the dinner we surprised them by letting them finally enter the room. their reactions were priceless and it really made all the hard work worth it ☺ ☺ ☺

ngawww how adorable

such a cutie ☺
she loved the ball pit the most

driving with swag

burying herself in balls

finally got his laptop

honestly i absolutely felt really great because it just made my heart melt to see someone like him who didn't have much longer to live to be so happy and cheerful. the entire time he was just hopping on his one leg with his wooden crutches and smiling all the way and it made me realise that if people like him can accept all the difficulty in their lives and learn to deal with it, then so can i. and what made me feel the happiest of all was that i managed to make him that happy.

i miss the whole bunch of them. especially his little sister because she was the cutest  i hope i get to have more opportunities in the future to volunteer and help people like this because seeing the smiles on everyone's face is the best reward of all

gallifrey falls no more

okay so basically if you're a non whovian or if you haven't watched the 50th anniversary episode yet then you wouldn't understand the title of this post. if you don't want any spoilers then i suggest you read this post after you watch the episode. if you don't mind then do go on. ☺

right now i have just finished watching the live streaming of the 50th and in the words of my friend andrea koid: "confused, exhausted and angry. goodbye"

honestly it was a REALLY good episode though. i cried so much i bet my pillowcase is damp now with my tears. the fact that all previous doctors and the 12th doctor appeared in this episode just made me squeal with delight. i actually liked john hurt's doctor and i wish he was in more episodes. i can't wait for capaldi either though hehehhe ☺☺☺

the only shitty thing was that i was watching it live from u-stream and the stream sucked so there was always this echo and it kept going offline. i still managed to watch the whole thing though at least so im still grateful. rose was in the episode but they couldn't see or hear her so that kinda sucked. we only got like a split second of capaldi which was when all 13 doctors tried to freeze gallifrey into a painting in order to save it from the daleks in the time war. i know, im still confused at that so i might watch the episode again later.

well the happy ending was that gallifrey was never destroyed and it's still out there somewhere and the doctor will finally be going home ☺

i can't wait till the next episode. according to the official doctor who twitter page, the christmas episode is gonna be about the silence (again). im excited ☺☺☺ doctor who is seriously the best

oh well i better go get some sleep now. it's 5:50 am and im exhausted as hell. it really was worth staying up for that episode ☺ goodbye and here's a cute doodle of the t.a.r.d.i.s. and the pink pather that my best friend tracia drew for me go check out her art page on facebook (tracia patricia little art shop) for more drawings and other cool stuff ☺ geronimo!

doctor who 50th anniversary

peter capaldi: the 12th doctor
tomorrow's the day *sniff sniff* doctor who day. i can almost smell capaldi.

in case you're not in my fandom and you don't know what's so special about capaldi or tomorrow, fear not i shall explain.

that picture over there on the top right corner is peter capaldi a.k.a. the 12 the doctor. let me give you all a rough explanation of what doctor who is about.

amy pond
basically this show is about this alien called the doctor that is a time lord. his job is to travel through space and time to save the universe from all sorts of alien mayhem in his blue police box he calls the t.a.r.d.i.s. (time and relative dimension in space). he usually travels with a human female companion for his journeys. all his companions never stay the same because they either decide leave or die. it's hard to decide which companion i love the most but i think that my favourite companion of the doctor would be amy pond (karen gillan). the 11th doctor (a.k.a. matt smith) and amy are my otp.

look guys! it's my otp!
aren't they perf????
how are they not even dating ????
like omg they look just like a married couple
♡ ♡ ♡ i ship it ♡ ♡ ♡
god damn it you two just get married already!
so anyway back to doctor who. matt smith is the 11th doctor as i mentioned before. there are 11 doctors so far and matt is the current one. the doctor never dies so he regenerates to become a completely different person which means that his looks, voice and personality will be different but he will still be the same person. when the doctor regenerates, every single molecule and DNA in his body is being rewritten so that's why he changes into a whole different person. so far the doctor has regenerated 10 times so there are a total of 11 different versions of him so far. for the 50th anniversary episode, the 11th doctor will regenerate and become the 12th doctor which would be peter capaldi's doctor.

the current companion at the moment would be clara oswin oswald. she is known as "the impossible girl" because she has died many times but has always come back to life and is also everywhere in the doctor's history. it's hard to explain why so you've just got to watch the show to understand.

the impossible girl

so tomorrow is special to the entire doctor who fandom because it's the day when they finally air the 50th anniversary episode and the doctor is going to regenerate. plus some of the old cast members will return like billie piper (rose tyler), david tennant (10th doctor) ad john hurt (the doctor that wasn't supposed to happen). i have been waiting six months for a new doctor who episode and i'm so happy right now because now i no longer have to keep rewatching the episodes from previous seasons. there's also a rumour that ALL the previous doctors are coming back too but that's just a rumour so i'm not too sure.

even the google logo for today is representing the doctor who 50th anniversary by making it a doctor who mini game!

i am literally shaking with excitement right now because i really cannot wait for this new episode. so that's all for now and i'll just sign off with this t.a.r.d.i.s. and snowman with a fez right here  i will blog about the new episode when i get the chance.
