ootn ☯ ☯ ☯

so last night i attended a dinner party to celebrate my dad's birthday with some of him and my mum's friends. now i've always had trouble with picking the perfect apparel for when it comes to events like an old people's party but i think that the one i chose for last night was pretty good.

dressing up for events like this has always been difficult for me because:
1. you have to dress sensibly which means nothing too raunchy otherwise other people would think that you have no class and you certainly wouldn't want any of your elders to think that.

2. since you're going to be the youngster in the group of older people, there is a 80% chance that you are going to be left out from most of the conversations. the only conversations that you are possibly going to be involved in are those in which you are the topic of discussion and when they ask you questions like "how old are you?" or "what are you studying at the moment?" other than those you'd probably be just sitting there awkwardly and scrolling through your phone. so you have to make sure that your ensemble is comfortable to sit in for hours. and....

3. sometimes you just have those really irritating elders that like to comment on how you look and how big you've grown even though you don't even remember seeing any of them at all as a child. for example, if you dress up really nicely they would say things like "wow, look how big you've grown! you even know how to dress up now!" unless you like the attention (unlike me) this wouldn't be an issue for you.

now the thing with me is that i actually want to look good even if it's just for something like this. i like to look good wherever i go and i make that a priority. so how do you manage to look good without drawing too much attention to yourself? here's the answer.

the tip is to wear something that has a plain or simple design yet somehow compliments your body and flatters your image. what i usually like to wear is my black body con dress because it fits me well in all the right places + every girl needs a little black dress. now i don't exactly have a skinny body so when i wear this dress i look a little bit more on the plump side and how i cover it up is by wearing a fitted denim jacket. a jacket, sweater or cardigan always helps with covering up. lastly i finished off my look with my black strapped platform sandals from vincci and a cute little owl pendant. the bag that i used is a transparent clutch with a gold chain that i had gotten from forever 21 when i was in london. what i like the most about this bag is that you can actually allow people to see what you are carrying inside and also i think that the design is very sleek and cool.

so that was my outfit of the night and i'll share some of my other outfits another time so stay tuned. ☺
